Bumper Chrome

Trying to replace the front bumper chrome on my 84 300sd. The fasteners that hold the chrome to the plastic bumper are shot. They are a special little fastener and I have not been able to find them anywhere.

Anyone have any idea where I should look?

It looks like I could fabricate something to replace the original parts if I have to. Anyone do anything like that?

Sometimes, its the smallest parts that shut you down.

Is this it?

The EPC lists part number A1269940345 as 'LOCK ORNAMENTAL COVER TO BUMPER AND PANELLING'. That's my best guess. Here's a picture I found by Googling that part number. If that's the correct part a quick Google or call to your dealer will get you as many as you want.

There is also part number A1269940345 with the same description but I couldn't find a good picture. The diagram in the EPC shows what looks like a small plate with two studs sticking out.

That is exactly what I am looking for. And the screw/bolt.

Drop the 'A'

Try Googling just 1269940345. The first hit should get you there.

There is a screw with part number A1269900310 and a washer with part number N009021008213 listed also. Not so much luck on the Googlage for these, your dealer should be able to get them for you. There's always wrecking yards as well.

You should also subscribe to the Mercedes online parts catalog for free at http://epc.startekinfo.com.
