my buddys says diesel purge same as reaming glow plug holes

need to replace some glow plugs, called my friend to see if he had a reamer. He didnt, and said that doing a closed circuit diesel purge would break up the carbon deposits, no need for reaming. true or false.

False.

You'd need to run a lot of diesel purge (if its even possible) to do the same as a good GP reaming. No way running a fluid that's 80% diesel is going to get into the GP prechambers and remove carbon like a metal on metal scraping can.

Moral of the story: Your friend doesn't own a reamer.

If it's true, it'll be welcome news to the 606 guys - no more glow plugs breaking off in the head!

i got a very nice reamer for the 617 from member diesel911. fair price, fast ship and I have used it on 3 cars so far. if you were closer, i'd loan it too you.

I dont think that anything in a bottle is going to replace proper maintenance.

Does your buddy also say that Lucas Oil Stablizer is the same as an engine rebuild?
