Delivery valve job 96 e300d

I replaced all fuel lines, bypass hoses, delivery valve o-rings and copper washers with dealer parts. Cleaned top of IP before I started and did them one at a time just removing the washer and o-ring and spring retorqued to spec, car starts but runs very rough and smokes also knocks what do I do now? Out of ideas. How long should it take to rid the system of air?

torque it again

Having done plastic fuel lines on one 606 engine, all O rings and rubber fuel lines on three 606s, and delivery valve O rings and washers on two 606s, my experience is that the air is purged after the engine runs for a few minutes and is driven around a few miles.

I think your rough idle is delivery valves that need to be retorqued. I assume you did the 30nm torque, loosen slightly, 30nm torque, loosen slightly, 35nm final torque sequence as per the FSM. Paying close attention to that, I still had clatter on both engines, so I retorqued in that sequence again (cold engine please). Both engines had clearly less clatter.

I did do them in the proper order there does not appear to be any air in the fuel lines can I take the hard line off each injector one at a time and isolate the delivery valve issue if so should their be a steady stream at the injector. The car idles and knocks with smoke pretty bad?

Inj knocking? Did you flush out any fuel to clear any rubber debris from the old orings before reconnecting the hard fuel lines? If not, any debris present would have gone to an inj and [possibly clogged one......Mine idled louder after doing DV's, most of us expirience that. A couple of DP's helped, and time (~500 miiles) did the rest.

Is also possible an oring got pinched or a crush washer didnt seat right. Do you have extras if you do find the offender?

When I looked at the old fuel lines and DV 0-rings they were in pretty good shape they were not degrading in any way can I take them back apart and reseat them using the new washers and 0-rings even though they have been torqued. I think I have all the injector lines in the right order It does not look like there is enough play to get them crossed in any way. Thanks for your help.

When I did my delivery valves the first time, I did not change out the copper crush washers, as a few posters on the board said it was not absolutely necessary. Well, the car didn't smoke, but the idle had changed from one of no noise whatsoever to one that sounded like the older Mercedes model. A few members on the board mentioned that they got the same results, and it would clear up in about 50 miles of driving. Mine did not clear up, and I decided to redo the job, only this time replacing the crush washers. Before I started, I noticed a DIY post by Parrot of Doom. He mentioned a simple procedure that when screwing in the delivery valve by hand, and before torquing it down, that your rock the valve assembly back and forth as you screw it in. He says that it helps to seat all the components inside the valve, which makes sense to me. When I redid the job following his instructions, the engine sounded great with no smoke and no noises at idle. Can't say if it was due to the new crush washers, or Parrot of Dooms heads up. Good luck with your repair.

I took the DV out again to see if I might of bent a washer or tore an o-ring during the replacement job and everthing looked good but when car is running I see a few air bubbles in the new fuel lines every once and a while is this normal or is something air? Is it allright to drive the car with injector knocking? Thanks for any help
