differential question

forum, does the differential assy from the 126 car directly interchange with the 124 car? or could some one mention the one that interchanges without modifications to the 124 car?
i am working on the idea of a drag strip car and the 3.69 from the 126 car would work better for the launch.
thanks larry perkins lou ky

I don't think any W126 models ever came with a 3.69. About the lowest ratio it might have is a 3.58 from a 280SE.

At least the rear cover is different. The 126 has two attachments arranged vertically, the 124 has two attachments arranged horizontally.

The 201, 129 and 140 series have similar diff attachments and rear suspension setup so maybe similar diffs as well.

According to Nitske:

190E 2.3 5-speed has a 3.92 from 1989
190D 2.2/2.5 5-speed 2 has a 3.42
R129 300SL/SL320 has a 3.69
W140 300SE/S320 has a 3.69

Larry,

Your PM box is full. If you'll PM me with your email address, I'll forward the .pdf of all the different rear end ratios.
