Accelerator Pedal Insulation
Detecting more road noise that appears to be coming in throught the opening for the accelerator pedal opening. It looks like I have some rotted rubber in there. Anyone have any insight on what I should do here to reduce the engine/road noise?

Just kidding... Phil from fastlane should be able to locate something for you. This is for your 2007 Hyundai, right? |
84 300sd I did not realize my posts did not show the car I was restoring.

Good chance you have more than rotted rubber. Time to pull up the floor mat, scrape up the sound deadener and most likely cut and weld up the hole that is quietly growing under there. Quick check, get under the car and push up on the undercoating in the area beneath the the pedal. I just went through this on my 82. Had to weld in a new section of metal about 4"x4".

The metal seems solid.
I found some rotten hardened black rubber around the accelerator and wondered what they used to insulate it. |
pedal or lever?
The epc shows that there is a boot for the bearing that the lever pivots on. Is it possible that is what you are referring to? It would be number 35 in this picture.

Yes. Where do you get those great diagrams?

the rubber gasket around the steering column provides a much larger hole for sound / air and rots as well.
