FSM says to hold the cam sprocket with a screwdriver.

Which FSM do you guys use? There seem to be a few online. I would rather have the paper edition, but I suppose I could just print one if they can only be found on CD.

Is there a FSM that covers all the 60X series... I have an 82 300SD, an 85 190D and a 1986 300SDL

Go to www.startekinfo.com -> MB Workshop Resources -> Service Manual Library CD/DVD -> Model 124 Service Library for no cost on-line access to the FSM. There are also FSMs for the 126 and 201 series. Most of the engine section applies across the 60x engine family but make sure you're looking at information for turbo or non-turbo as appropriate. The '82 SD has a 617 engine which is covered in the 126 series FSM.

Thumbs up

hey sixto, compress ignite & don, thanks for the cool info. Sixto, thanks for the links on the service manuals, looks like that could be helpful!... I'll check them out asap!

I'd still like an authentic FSM in hardcopy to dirty up in the shop... How is the Bentley publishing FSM? It's on ebay for 50 bucks.

Don, send me some pics and lemme know what you want for that timing ramp. You can send me an email or post here, whatev...

I think this job may be a bit advanced for me, but I'll at least need the part, & who knows, my adventurous side may take over and deeper into the belly of the beast I shall go! I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks again, digby
