Is this a good way to clean up a intake manifold

Looks like a VW TDI intake. Looks risky if you get it too hot and melt the manifold. Also, If you didn't clean out all of the ash and burned chunks, guess where it goes!!!
I have seen guys decarbonize two stroke expansion chamber exhausts that way.

In the past one of the Members said he used oven cleaner to cut through grease.
Cleaning out the pipes? Egr, Intake and exhaust how to remove carbon?

Haha wasn't that eventful when I cleaned mine. I just use a propane torch and a wooden mallet to get it clean. Takes around an hour.

No NO NO NO!!! LOL! It wont get it totally cleaned out. The best thing to do(and easiest) is take It to a machine shop and have them dip it in there steam vat. They come out crystal clean ! Look like brand new and you dont take a chance of lighting your lawn on fire!!

All that will do is turn it to charcoal and it ill break off and go through your engine later on.
Chemical dipping and a long brush is still the best. |
