I think I'm going with 215 65/15 with a H rating --- appropriate for the big 4900lb car.

Brake flush is done --- yeah!!! That wasn't too bad. Everyone remember the first pic of Coda? Well, I used my shop turkey baster to remove the old brake fluid from the reservoir, wipe out the inside of the reservoir, filled with Valvoline DOT 3&4, then started on the passenger rear wheel. I took that wheel off, but decided I could do it with the other wheels on. The stuff that came out looked like darkish honey, but still translucent. I pumped until I got nice newish looking fluid.

Remember to do one wheel at a time, start with the wheel fartherest from the reservoir, and REMEMBER to top up the reservoir between wheels. I was using the one many system......maybe next time, I'll have some help.;) I had a volunteer in my household AFTER I was finished.

That is sooo wierd. I also have what looks like a button on the inside of my radiator...

My guess is those buttons are remnants from the fabrication shop. They can stack cores with less risk of damaging fins. Or simply a fabrication step indicator. Or a golf game played through and someone forgot a green marker :)

Back to the HydroEdge tires. I ran the 225s and although they guaranteed 0-K miles, I only got 56K miles, AND most of mine is highway. Rotated and balanced every 5-6K miles too. They actually rode a little rough and IMO, were noisy.
When I retired (I always wanted to say that, but not able yet....), I went with Pirellis. They do ride much better. I'll find the other information on them tomorrow, when I got back outside in the cold.

Coda got new shoes tonight; Tire place talked me into 205 65 R15 with an H performance rating; warmed up transmission fluid and added a little bit more.

Last night, I got the new transmission plugs and crush washers installed. Added 6 quarts and went for a 20 mile drive. My brother called while I was driving, so did not get the job finished. After we got off the phone, I cut open the transmission filter. Here are some pics.

Oh. And I found the perfect spot for the transmission dipstick while adding fluid.;)

What tire brand did you go with? I use a Michelin Primacy 205 65 R15 H and they are wearing well.

Bridgestone ??? don't remember the tire name, but they are rated H ---- that's an amazing rating for our 24 year old cars.

Well....Friday night, I had a drip from the Transmission pan. So, I took it off. The gasket slipped up a little bit on the driver's side front corner --- it's a more rounded (gradual) corner than others. Maybe I had the pan too tight. Anyway, put it back on and drove to Nashville on Saturday. When I got home last night, I had a drip like every 60 minutes from the passenger side middle area, so added a very little bit of torque to the the passenger side middle bolt.

Today. No drips. Very picky transmission pan.

Weird Window
 

So, the driver's window quit working a few weeks ago. So, I go get fuel before strategically parking in the garage and try the window. It works. But wait. There's more information in the details. It goes down all the way and almost all the way up. The motor does not stop running in the up direction.

We all know how bad it is to not have a working driver's window, right? No drive thru service. And if travelling on toll roads without an E pass, paying tolls is a bear.

So, tonight, I take off the door panel and the window regulator looks fine. It's not bent. The plastic thingy is intact. Could the gear on the motor be worn and it's jumping gears when the window is almost all the way up?

I had one on the shelf (floor, really), so I finally convinced myself to replace it.

Viola. Window works fine now.

News Flash ---- this just in......
 

Coda has been sold with 213,662 miles. Her journey continues toward the state of Pennsylvannia.

Chad300tdt and his lovely wife arrived in Memphis, TN via air this afternoon. I picked them up at the airport. We first did a drive by of Graceland (no photos). After the test drive and determination the squeek was the water pump (I can't hear), we toured the local Mercedes "museum". Then we visited the parts cars and learned "Next" (the w116) suffered damage to the driver's door this week --- forklift appears to have backed into it, so I guess I'll be visiting the junkyard in the future. We finalized the transaction. After dinner, they gave me a ride home and I provided the Coda stash of parts and a few other things.

Pics to document the various steps follow. As you can tell, I was in the wrong lane arriving at the airport; Chad and his wife were excited to be in the low 60's weather for an afternoon. Chad spotted a wagon that reminded him of home. The "Mercedes musuem" had about 11 MBs there --- variety of flavors; the hit was the 1989 Bentley that was on the lot. Chad receives the 250,000kilometer mileage award from me. Chad attempts to plan his drive via GPS at the right side of Coda.

It was great finally getting to meet you daw! Thanks for your hospitality and, of course, Coda.

My (18 hours 46 minutes/1124.67 miles) drive home in Coda was comfortable and problem free. I stopped at the CLK Man's GTG in Kentucky on the way back home and had a great time with some old friends and got to meet a few new ones too. Coda got a great reception and had 4 people looking her over and performing a few minor adjustments, repairs and an interior detailing.

I'm sure I'll be back down your way in the future and hope to plan more time to hang out.

I'll post pics once I get the bounty of goodies out of the SDL tomorrow.:D
