I only let a few know I was serious about selling this time. I couldn't be happier with Coda's new owner. It's great to know that she will continue to get the care and improvements needed.

My end reason for deciding to let Coda move on was that winters here suck and I can't take her on the road for at least 3-4 months/year. This year was unusually bad for us with the snow so I'm moving on to a 4x4 SUV.

I'm thinning the herd down to just the 300CD. This will allow me to focus my time and money on just one car. Plus the CD is the car my wife wants to keep, so there's that.

I'll still be doing the GTG every year and will always keep at least one older MB in my driveway.

Good luck with Coda Tyler. I wish you the best. I'm packing everything up today to get ready for the pickup.

I think this car sets the record for being owned by different forum members.

Is this three different forum owners?

Yes. Tyler even met and drove Coda before I did.

Yep, I'm the 3rd forum member to own the velour seated SDL.

If I do ever sell Coda and somebody demands, SHOW ME THE CARFAX! I'll have a 26 page surprise for them.

Tyler if you feel the need to sell coda in the future, let me know first. It's hard to find a nice SDL in the pnw at a fair price, plus I'd rather break the forum record.

Do you have any snazzy wheels for it?

Also, I have a perfect black 1990 560SEL interior with front and rear heated seats and reclining rear, very nice burl wood. I bought the whole dang rust free good running car for $800, and am sorely tempted to swap the interior... but it would be a shame to kill a flagship. The car is sort of like Coda on page 1, only with nicer paint.

Maybe I could sell the 560 to someone who would make a lemons racer out of it?

What makes the Coda such a special car?

The car was given to Andy Warhol in part for his work for Mercedes while celebrating its centennial. He could have chosen any Mercedes, but picked a 300SDL for reasons unknown. He died the following year.

I have the commemorative calender that features all of his work. Really neat stuff.

Coda's name was drawn at random by daw_two, but well thought out.

Coda Definition: the concluding passage of a piece or movement, an ending part of a piece of music or a work of literature or drama.

Wow! I'm almost speechless ...

Chad --- I didn't know Coda was for sale; however, I can certainly understand the need for 4x4 up there; especially after this winter. Tomorrow is the first day of spring, right? Speaking of 4x4's, my 2000 Dodge Dakota, 4x4, crew cab, 4BT swap could be purchased.

Tyler --- congrats on the purchase. I guess the legacy continues. I had no idea you were planning on attending Chad's GTG that the hurricane canceled. I was there the night before. PM sent.

And regarding the name......just remember, that was my oldest daughter's suggested name.

I really like when these cars move on to various forum members. Sadly, a large portion of the ones I've sold have ended up being crashed!!
I still think I wouldn't mind having the Batmobile back......
