The lowest I've seen on the Northeast side of town is $2.21 @ Racetrack in Lawrenceville. Even the QT on 85, which is usually the lowest around, is running $2.22.

D2 is around $2.85 up here and $3-ish back home

Gotta love the northern pricing...

I did see premium gas for $2.75 a week ago in Olympia WA though, so in SOME areas the price difference between D2 and premium has about dissappeared.

Bgkast - if you're able to haul that 300 gallon tank around, and going as far north as Everett, you should go 20 miles farther north to Arlington and get it filled up at Seattle Biodiesel. They sell ASTM B100 made from WVO for around a quarter a gallon LESS than D2...
I think they went out of business completely. About six months ago they were having financial trouble, and now their website is down. I can't even find a phone number for them. If you have solid information that they still exist, please share it. I can't find these guys anywhere.

It's been coming down even though gas has been going up.

Diesel: $2.29
RUG: $1.95

Diesel used to be $1 more than RUG. A month ago it was $2.59 compared to $1.59.

Diesel is about $2.28 out here in the middle of NJ. I wish it'd go lower, but I'm not complaining.. especially after the last year of $4+ a gallon prices.

Really? Hmmmn, I would have sworn I saw one of their trucks just a couple of weeks ago. But, I just tried their number and it rang and rang and rang. Maybe they hav gone under...

Anyway, I was mistaken about which outfit it is in Arlington. That's Standard Biodiesel (not Seattle Biodiesel) - and I know they are still operating...

I have been very pleased lately to see diesel coming in line with gas in terms of price. Right now diesel is only averaging about 20-30 cents more a gallon than premium around here. Way better than $1+ before!

Hmm, This Standard Biodiesel you speak of that doesn't seem to exist on the biodiesel.org website... I will have to contact them and see if they carry B100 or B99. If they do, well, I'll have to try some. There's a co-op right in town here, but they carry B20 only, even though they claim to sell B99 as well. They are also very proud of their B20, and have priced it several dollars higher per gallon than good ol' diesel for no apparent reason.

Unhappy Diesel Fuel

Diesel fuel used to be one half the price of regular gasoline. What happened? The greedy #%^&**#$ quadrupled the price because they knew they could. When Bush allowed his cohorts to rape the country with their fuel price gouging, they destroyed the economy, and paved the way for a Muslim to become president and that swishing sound you're hearing is the Republican Party going down the toilet. All because of Bush and his greedy friends. Uh oh, I made a disparaging remark against Obama, I must be a racist! No, not a racist, just mad as Hell for the condition that Bush has put this country in.

Have a nice day, Stark

I just bought RUG for $1.25 today with a Stop & Shop card. Fantastic!

I have no idea what diesel costs these days, I'll have to look.

I remember in the Clinton years diesel was the same price as RUG. If it was half that before as you suggest, I guess the Clintons and their greedy friends raped us too.

Honestly, I think it's naive to think any administration is connected with price gouging. Every couple years or so congress has hearings and investigations into price gouging.

Diesel is high because refinery expansion doesn't happen and we sell more diesel across the ocean now than we ever did.

However, I don't think that's an excuse for higher prices. I think it cost something like $4-5 per barrel to get oil out of the ground. Shipping, marketing, refining, etc is the rest. I don't know if Shell for instance refines their own drilled oil and then puts it in the pipeline, or if it all goes to the open market and they buy what they need for refining. Are prices driven up by those who have to buy more on the market? Does it all go on the market? If a company refines only what they get out of the ground and don't buy crude from the open market, can they make a much higher profit margin?

I've never heard nor seen a good thorough explanation of how the price of a gallon of gas or diesel is determined at the pump. Can anyone help with this?

I think they use one of these to determine prices.

Seems feasible, right?
