83 300CD Turbo - much accomplished.....
I have been steadily working on getting her road worthy. Here is a list of items ticked off the list.
New brakes on all 4 corners New master cylinder (these were one last weekend) The car drives nice, but have what sounds like a rubbing sound when turning at low speed. Might be the steering dampener? Last evening -oil change - new air filter. The old one had a mesh on the inside diameter that was rusted. - connected the air filter housing properly - Washed the engine as best I could to start the removal of what looks to be years of accumalated crud. today -4 new tires, I had a totally mismatched, dry rotted set from the PO -2 quarts of tranny fluid to bring the fluid up in between the marks. Now she is flaring between 1-2 and 2-3 -removed the rotted middle muffler (Resonator?) and replaced with straight pipe to the rear muffler. She is MUCH quieter now. - Replaced wipers. - Fiddled with tach amp and the tach now works, for how long we shall see. - lubed the accelerator linkage. Pedal is easier to depress now. Want to do tomorrow - Investigate if blower motor is receiving power, if not, then pull climate control unit to disassemble and re-solder everything to see if I can get the blower going. If I can get heat, I can drive her to work. I'll have to read up on the transmission to see what areas I should look at. I'll wait a few days to see if the tranny starts functioning better after it gets used to having the proper amount of fluid in her. She still will need all new seats, front and back, as they are all torn.This will be more of a long term thing till I can get down to the pick & pull to see what will be available.

First off, I must give props for the car reference. Very correct!
It also sounds like you are knocking things out in a very logical and efficient manner. The new tires will help you tons. Sometimes too it doesn't hurt to take that blower motor apart and clean and lube the bushings and shaft of the armature. It will draw less amps after that, and they are a pretty high amperage draw in the first place.....

I have had the rubbing sound on mine since I did the rear brakes. I dont know but I suspect the aftermarket parts just want to rub. I took the rears apart several times and finally decided just to live with it. maybe thats your rub sound too since you just did the rears. you should post pics if you have them, I love looking at coupes...

Rubbing sounds maybe front wheel bearings? Have you re-lubed?
I have at least one extra CCU that I pulled from the PnP in my parts basket, yours for shipping cost if it will help the cause - I'm over in Kalamazoo. Unplug the recirculation pump or get a 1amp fuse on the line if there isn't one already. no sense in burning up your efforts.

There is an active thread and shows the pics of the pump and CCU (among other things). The fuse is essentially contained in the CCU; resulting in it's failure. Not the best setup. Simple fix; unplug the pump. Next, verify your pump is working; then go to any parts store and pick up an inline fuse and fuse it - 1 amp. You've got plenty of projects - I'd just unplug for now and work on more important tasks. See the following: I lost it all....electrical fire high up in the dash

Sound like you are doing a good job. CD interior parts are going to be harder to find in PNP. ones I have seen have all been trashed. would be expensive to do, but a new uhpolstery kit from one of the after marketers would make it look like a new car.
I love the CD body. first MB we test drove was an 82 300CD. I think it was 1990. they wanted $22,000 for it then. Blk on Blk. Beautiful car. I slobbered on them for a long time at the dealer before the hook was set, and we got reeled in . we didn`t get it at a dealer though. Here is another thread from a frozen pump. www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=157591 Thanks to the Michigan DOT dumping salt on the roads and the injestion of all that salt spray probably rusted the wire mesh in the filter.
