Not certain about a W120 , but the W210 with the 606.962 has 174hp. Chipped "non-aggresively" it gets up to ~201 I believe. Aggressive may be as high as 225 but is prob kind of hard on the trans.

I'm going to guess they have the same trans as the higher powered V8 vehicles.....so even at 200-225 hp.....its not even close to the power the V8 would put through it.

Unless the diesel has its own tranny.....

3rd child changes everything; Dinner table (eating in or out), car choices, house size/bedrooms, ... been there, too much to list. We bought a Land Rover and a full-size conversion van, keep a car or cars around for fun stuff but you'll need two larger vehicles. You're already out of everything convertible and 2+2 in the third child, BTDT.

Might as well "bite the bullet" and choose between a minivan and an "SUV/Crossover/Wagon".

Basically, every autobox from 97-04 or 05(?) has been a 722.6xx. It continued to be used in the CDI's through 06. Torque converters and fluid capacity differed based on which engine they were hooked up to.

'91 350SDL engine question

I have found a '91 350SDL and the seller claims the engine has been replaced, but does not know when. This is a 200k car, but he seems to have done a lot of work on it. How can I verify with MB if this car has had a new engine put in? Is the new engine better than the original or is it the same engine?

This is what is stamped on the current engine:
“Original Mercedes-Benz TAUSCHAGGREGAT TEIL NR 6030106900 82 BM 603.970 AGGNR 924270”

In general it translates as "this is an original MB aggregate replacement part, engine model 603.970"

I am brand new to the formum. Any help will be appreciated.

It is the original model/type: 603.970 = 3.5L "rod bender".
Do a search on rod bender and you'll find a lot of info. Not a complete don't buy, but it's not a deal breaker if you know what to look for and what you're getting into.

If the last series is the date code, too many digits but could be 42nd week of 1992, DON'T count on this, I'm guessing

Punch the car into the russian vin site and see which engine serial number it left the factory with.

Maybe your M/B days are over and it's time for one of these:

Preparing to be flame broiled. I'm just saying with all the kiddies and stuff, get a cheap new or two year old car, drive it till it dies and keep a nice older Benz for yourself.

That's a replacement engine tag. It's on the passenger side bell housing right? And there's no engine number on the horizontal surface ahead of the IP?

-6900 is a complete replacement engine so that's a big bonus. Someone spent a fair amount on not just a short block or long block, or had the clout to have MB foot the bill.

Is the replacement engine any less likely to bend a rod?

Redesigned rods, and EPC shows a sequence of 4 or 5 part numbers, are less likely to bend. Supposedly replacement engines use redesigned rods. No easy way to check, though.
