What about this 83 240D?
I am thinking about going to take a look at this 83 manual 240D. The add says that the "engine runs but car is not drivable due to a knock in the fourth cylinder (cylinder closest to firewall)." What do you all think about this? Give me some feedback on this one - go have a look? don't bother making the 45 minute drive? drive in the opposite direction as fast as you can?
http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/cto/1007585738.html What is the likely problem? Thanks, Mark

Ask if it puts out an abnormal amount of smoke, it may be a nailing injector. With "about" 300,000 miles it could just need to be rebuilt and does actually have a mechanical problem. When you go to check it out bring a 17mm wrench with you and if the seller is cool with it, crack the injector line on that #4 cylinder, if the knock is gone you'll know it's the injector. Hopefully that won't piss the seller off
For kicks, ask what is underneath that dashboard carpet , we all know what the answer is but it's the sellers reaction that you're looking for. |

Oh, nice, thanks for alerting me - you know I didn't even catch that. I wonder if it's velour?
