Over and above the call of duty

Need a good mechanic in central FL? Here’s a small story about what my mechanic did for me.

On Sunday I traveled 2 hours down state to his shop so we could replace a few parts on my 79 280CE. At about 7:00pm everything was back in place and we were ready to leave, then we noticed that the fuel pressure regulator was leaking. As it turns out the small weld that holds the female fitting on the regulator had cracked and was leaking fuel from when you put the hose back on. At that point the car wasn’t fit to drive 2 hours back home. Pierre was willing to drive me back home then deliver the car to me on Monday. Of course I wouldn’t have let him do that. That night Pierre calls his friend to see if he had a regulator that would work good enough to get me back home. He had one but it was a different part # but Pierre thought it would work, it was our only option so Pierre drove over to the next town at about 8:00pm to get the regulator. He installed the regulator in the car and it worked, didn’t leak at all and it ran great. Pierre really went the extra mile for me so that I could get home last night. Everything that he took apart was put back together just like it was when the car was put together 30 years ago. He is the only mechanic I would fully trust to work on my car. There isn’t a problem to big or small for him. I would highly recommend him to work on your car, and it is definitely worth the travel. Its not often you find a guy like Pierre in the Mercedes community. He usually only likes to work on cars older than 1993 but depending on the problem I’m sure he could help you out.

He will allow the owner to watch him work and work on the car with him. If you are in or around Central FL give him a call and setup an appointment. Very good prices too!!

This thread isn't about my gasser, its about Pierre and his pride that he takes in each car he works on.

BTW, im pretty sure my "old gasser" is in better shape than your diesel.

Maybe try typing something positive every now and then. You'll catch more flys with honey than with you will with vinegar.

We replace the left motor mount support arm(8mm motor mount bolt sheared off im the arm), motor mounts, and the oil return line from the head to the oil pan(we had to remove the fuel pressure regulator to install this).

Pete is good people. I have known him since I bought my
first MB. I met him at the PO's house working on other MB's he
had. I invited him to the one GTG at surfnturfs(sp) and although
he can be a bit odd at times, he does eat****andsleep MB's.

FWIW, Pete also will do private "tech" sessions, or at least did,

where you can learn and help/do your own car.

PS.....Do Not take a veggie car there

yep, Pete is a great guy. We talk a few times a week about my car or what he is out hunting. I'm bringing my car in in a few weeks to get some usual leaks sorted out and adjust the transmission vacuum and some other small items that need attention.

then its onto getting my cruise and AC working.

Sounds like a gem. Wish more mechs new about the older MBs. Heck a lot
of dealerships have to read up on the older ones. The mechs are way younger
than the car!
He's a keeper!

Cruise and A/C are so nice....I forgot how nice they are until we got the 300E....it has both, working! My SD has no A/C....and currently no cruise.....I need to fix the cruise....it'd be awesome.

Pierre is in his mid-20s, I think. About the same age as our cars, although I think he prefers W115 220Ds which would predate him. He is a valuable resource in this area, for sure.

My guess would have been at least 10 years older than that...but the point is valid, he hasn't been working on these things since they came out in the 70s

Yaeh, Pierre's a cool guy. But he did freak out when he saw my injector line heaters!

I've used Eurotech locally:

Pierre worked on my 87 300D before it was shipped to Texas, coordinated by a close friend of mine. I was a little apprehensive at first, but after 5 minutes on the phone with him, I had no concerns at all. This is one smart guy. His rates are reasonable and he took time to explain EVERYTHING to me in great DETAIL.

Too bad he's not in Texas.
