'85 300SD -BAD engine near Washington DC

folks,

i have a nearly rust-FREE white-in-color/palomiono 300SD with a "trashed" engine for sale at 500.oo for parts or repair.
(the glass in the SD are worth that much, used. = there are several thousand dollars worth of good parts in it, if "broken up".)

as i live in a "senior citizen's complex", i cannot keep it (though i would very much like to) for parts/repair.

i'm about 30 miles due south of Washington, DC, 2 miles off I-95S.

should the car not sell here within a week, it goes onto craigslist.com in DC.

thanks, texasnative46

Because you're selling it as a parts car anyways, do you think you would be willing to sell me the front passenger grab handle (the one on the ceiling)? I'd be willing to not only pay for it but give you my damaged one so you can have something to put in there.

You can get an entire set of glass out of a W126 at our local junk yard for about $150-200 tops......

Someone should save it though!

I'd be on this like white on rice if it were not for two things.

First, I can't get my single Mercedes to work correctly for longer than two days at a time, so taking on a second one would be insane.

Second, and most important, is the fact that I live in the wrong Washington! Same name - opposite sides of the country!

Someone does need to try saving this thing, though.

pawoSD,

fwiw, i tried less than 6 months ago to buy a WINDSHIELD for my brother's '83 126 at the local "youpullem" salvage yard.
(rock hit it.)
they wanted 280.oo just for the windshield. the back glass is MORE, as they are heated (and in this climate more likely to be broken).

yours, tn46

Gee whiz Texas, I just got a new windshield put in my 83 300sd for 185 plus tax. Maybe you should try sneaking up on these junkyards, so's that they don't see you coming.
What is BAD about the engine, did it do something, or was something done to it? Bad, as in unrepairable fire damage? Is it a decent block still?

Same here. I had a windshield (brand new) installed for $100 deductible (insurance covered the other 160 of it....so total cost was $260.

We paid about $40 for the heated rear glass from a W126 at our yard, and it was in perfect condition too....no delamination at all. The side windows on a W126 are about $100-130 new/installed by an autoglass place...and are only about $20 at our junk yard.
