Rear Center Heat is Nonexistant

Another question about the 300SDL.

I have two separate issues with the rear vent that comes out the back of the center console to provide air to the passengers in the back.

1. The little "closer" lever at the vent itself doesn't completely close the vent. I can feel it reduce the airflow but not stop it entirely. Where do I have to get to to adjust/replace this thing?

2. The cursed thing doesn't deliver heat at all. I honestly can't remember what it does in the summer, or what it's supposed to do - I'll worry about that when I get there. But my problem now is that it seems to be supplying OUTSIDE air to the back passengers no matter what I set the climate control to. As in, I can be running the hottest heat the car knows how to deliver, and the passengers are still getting 15 degree air on their feet from that vent (that can't be completely closed at the moment). Where do I look for the cure to this? We went through those little pink vacuum pods last year and thought we replaced all the ones that weren't functioning...

Thoughts?

It has and will only ever blow fresh air to the back. Only with the W140 forward could you actually regulate between hot and cool air.

Ahh, okay. Thanks! I had read conflicting answers to that, here and other places. Next question is what might be broken to cause the vent closing lever to work partially but not make it all the way closed.

When you go into the console to replace the shift selector light you can lube and adjust the mechanism.

This is good to know, one thing I can cross off my fix list.
