Haha okay, thank you too! It's a quick fix right now, but I'll add a fuse to the line eventually. Thanks for the input!

I changed his oil today. I used Shell Rotella T 15W40, and it makes a NOTICABLE difference! Norm seems to run smoother, and dare I say a little quieter. Also I tried out a CarQuest brand filter, and sure enough on the side of the box it designated it as a Wix filter. None of that cotton crap as far as I could tell. Anyways, after being warmed up he spat out only about 4 quarts I added 6, and that brought it up almost to the max line. That explains my low oil pressure! It was an enjoyable oil change! Try Rotella if you haven't already!

Tell you what, my greasecar kit is coming now, once it's installed I'll veggie my way over there and have him check it out. After reading about him he seems more then worth the trip!
prepare for the worst when he sees your veggy kit.

The white smoke at startup I experienced was kind of gray, and left a long trail... The bad "white" smoke is like steam, very wet, usually dissipating quickly. That means water/coolant, and probably a bad head gasket.

If you're not loosing any coolant, or consuming much oil, I wouldn't worry too much.

My guess is the injectors, which are probably older than you (and me) too, need to be addressed eventually... Many, many threads on the issue.

Here's a good one.

diesel smoke question
I actually think I solved this one too! I'll give it another day or two before I make any conclusions, but I think that somehow I got some bad diesel or something from the cheapest station I could find. It's nowhere near a highway, has no truck pumps, is in a richer area where you wont find too many diesels, and is not in a busy part of town. The price has been $2.39 for the last three months, which is what drew me to it, but I don't think that tank has been filled at all recently!

I don't know if bad diesel is possible (I think it is) but considering this stuff has probably been sitting there forever, it got contaminated with something. I got a full tank of a more popular stations diesel, and the smoking is 99% eliminated. Just a little bit for a few minutes which I'm guessing is the crap diesel burning off.

Then again I'm probably completely wrong! It just seemed to go away with the use of different diesel.

Hey anything is possible! Seriously, it almost completely vanished once I put in new diesel.

And it looks like I need to see Pierre before installing my kit, but I don't think that's going to happen! Kit arrives Friday, and I'm going to see a shuttle launch on the 12th so it would have to be then if at all.

Hopefully he wont come down on me too hard!

What are you going to have Pierre do?
