Or do the opposite color combo of 81300sd's car...
It will be the same shade, I plan to have the paint mixed to the factory code. My photoshop job was not quite up to snuff.

Joe, get some tint on that hoss. I dunno how your local cops are with the tint laws, but ours are pretty easy going and leave you alone about it. Its not that bad to DIY either.

I'm in FL... the SDL is getting tint as soon as it arrives.. 15% all around

I'll let the pro's do it since it comes with a lifetime warranty and is machine cut

Something like this. That shadow made it a pain. Black is much easier to work with.

I got the paint today. I went to an auto paint store to have them make a custom mix for me, but according to their book duplacolor black is exactly the same as 040 Mercedes black. I plan to test paint something first.

I really like the front. The rear I think needs to come down another 1/2". Its fine with a full tank like in the photo, but with an empty tank its a bit high.

Monoblocks are on my to get list. Someday. They are my first choice.

bgkast, If you have never removed the trim there is a right way and a wrong way. PM me if you need any tips.

I practiced on a junk yard car. Here is my technique, correct me if I am wrong: Remove door panel and unscrew nut at back of trim piece, pull out bottom of plastic trim with hand, slide top clips out of holes.

I haven't looked at the bumper plastic much yet, is it hard to get off?

Except you don't need to remove the inner panel. Pull the door seal back right where the nut is there is an access hole you can get it with a socket. Remove the bumpers(3 bolts per side and slide them out) and take off all the fasteners you see in there. Soak them with some penetrant first though. Pretty easy and simple but a pain to get back together without scratching your new paint.

And I second doing the mirrors also. They come right apart to paint the front side.

I spent 45 minutes removing the drivers door panel and trying to figure out how to get a wrench on that nut way back there before I noticed the access hole behind the seal. I got all the side trim off and sanded today, hopefully I can start painting tomorrow. I’ll do the bumpers and mirrors after I get the sides done.

How? Do I have to take the mirror off the car first?
