to all,

my lady not only doesn't like my diesel cars, but she won't DRIVE them.

oddly enough, she doesn't like waiting for the glow plug light to go out. - and she thinks cars have TWO speeds - OFF & ON.
(i also have paid a fine for her- 120+MPH in a 70MPH zone = NOT FUN!)

yours, tn46

Wow, 120? Maybe she needs to be sentenced to a 240D ...

Usually pretty clean though. Although certainly I've been to truck stops where you need to take six or seven showers after using the diesel pump ...
When you spill gas, it evaporates quickly. When you spill diesel it lingers on and on. We get the pumps, quite often next to the gas ones. What that means is that there is someone who has pumped and leaves his car there and gone in the store for Ho Hos or Ding Dongs. In the meantime, there I sit waiting for him to move so I can fill. All the while, others are filling up their gas tanks. Guess I am impatient.

Believe me, I know this from my driveway.

There are some stations that I go to that have the diesel pumps integral to the gas pumps, but only one or two of them. It's inevitable that there will be four open gas-only pumps, while two gasoline cars are filling up at the only two with diesel. Does make the wait longer ... plus people never realize that I actually need one of the two pumps with diesel (neither the Jeep nor the 124 are loud enough to be obvious diesels to someone in another car), so they think nothing of taking the one with the diesel. Doesn't usually bother me. There are so many diesel stations here that if it's bad I just go to another one.

I know in the past you would pay more for a diesel engine too. I know that when I bought my powerstroke, it was about $6000 more for the diesel option
Diesel engines are heavier to manufacture. Their requirements are totally different and if you tried to convert a gas engine to diesel, it would self destruct! I don't know about the difference between the E300 and the E320. Aren't both of these diesels? One a 3 litre and the other a 3.2 litre? If they are, there is not much difference in size between them. If one is gas and the other diesel, what is your comparable fuel economy?

E300 is a diesel. E320 is gas

E300 is rated at 23 and 32 City and Highway
E320 is rated at 18 and 27 City and Highway

BodhiBenz1987;JimmyL,

nobody deserves a punishment as severe as driving a 240D, especially with an auto trans. nobody.
(besides, sooner or later, i'd end up with it.)

I always thought chicks love the diesels, at least, if they're converted.

Before you label all the 'wives' as hating diesels, think again! Some of us actually prefer them over the gassersLove to pull up at the pump and see the looks I get, you know the look:"look at that stupid woman, putting diesel in her car!"Then there are the idiots who say, 'You know you have a plug hangin down in the front of your car' Gosh thanks!I actually wanted the 300D in the divorce, so don't label us all as bad!And yes I love the smell and the smoke. Now if they would just make Stanadyne smell better!

Unfortunately that's incorrect. There is no definitive efficiency for a gas and diesel since all engines are different but realistically a gasoline engine is probably 19% efficient while a diesel is closer to 30%. All ICE engines are just incredibly inefficient. But yea id say diesels last atleast 2-3 times longer

I just to-day bought another Diesel Coupe and it has one of those name plates on the ashtray that says " especially built for Mary XXXXXX " .

That was a while ago too ! . it's a heavily optioned car and I am told she kept it nearly 20 years .

So it's clear that many Women like Diesels .

Now if only SWMBO would learn to ride Motos....
