What is this????

Hello,

This piece is mounted in the black box that it is now sitting on. The device appears to be some sort of throttle position gizmo. It has two vacuum valve type components stacked on each other. The lower one has came apart and binds the throttle on the black wedge device that activates it.
Any help would be appreciated. What is this????-mercedes-engine-part-003.jpg

I think this might control the transmission shifting in reference to throttle position.

It's for EGR control. Most of them have been bypassed by various methods (for "testing").

Agreed, get rid of it. It can be the source of transmission shifting problems. Getting it out of there will also give a cleaner look to the valve cover.

Not just worthless, COMPLETELY worthless.

Just block the two vacuum hoses going from the main lines to the valve cover and throw that mess in the trash can.
