compare and contrast

I notice alot of you newer CDI owners have or have come from the early 90's 300D 2.5 turbos. Now obviously, the CDI is leap years ahead in technology, however, is there some things you particularly like/dislike in contrast to one another? Discuss....

Also, if you were in the market again in a year or so, what is your take on the 07 and up V6 turbo fitted to the bluetec? I know the 07 got some exterior styling updates (front/rear facia, lights, etc), but did the interior get touched at all?

I think the 07+ Cars got an updated interior (new steering wheel and some other niceities) as well as the 7 speed auto.

It would seem to me like the 7-speed would be much overkill for a torque diesel. You really dont need to "hunt" for a gear in turbo diesel. I like to upshift to 4th in mine and just torque.

My dad's going to be in the market for an 06 to replace his Volvo which needs tires, a new AC evaporator and compressor, and a major engine service soon. Bottom line is that it'll need over $3k worth of work before the summer. Gonna go test-driving when I'm home over spring break.

Would rather have the proven, iron-block-based-on-the-603 OM648 rather than the new OM642 aluminum engine.

Probably will pump the AC in the Volvo full of 134a and take it in for a trade-in

I would be in the market for one but I just don't have that kind of cash
