How many CDI owners hanging out here???

Hello guys? Anyone missed me? Didn't think so... story of my life.

For everyones info I soon turn 64 (July) and the wife turns 57 in Oct and we are full time parents to our two grandsons ages 1 and 4 (this month) and we do not have enough time or energy by the end of the day to do very much.

Even though I am retired, I do all the house work and most of the laundry to help the wife who is still working. This is why I am not on the forums like I used to be.

Like some SOB said, life begins at 50.

I would love to have one. It appears used ones are getting to be much more affordable.

Just as they have in the past. My 83 240D listed for mid $30k IIRC and the wife's 91 for $42k, so yes they all get cheaper as they get older. It is however like a bell curve, they start going up in value at some point in the age cycle.

Does yours have the I-6 or the V-6? Any complaints or praises of the car thus far?

It is an I-6 as all US '05 and '06 models were, and it has been the basic bullet proof rig. Had the auxiliary battery die, one glow plug replaced under warranty, and a lot of smiles when figure a fuel mileage. Also take great pride in blowing doors off Dodge Charger XTS and making a neighbor mad every time I edge out his 5.7L Hemi Charger with full flow exhaust and chip. But most of all I like telling my friend with I-4 Honda Civic that I get better fuel mileage then he gets and I ride in hell of a lot more comfort with plenty of room to stretch out.

I've got one that I've put about 20k miles on, and I LOVE it!! It's almost too nice for me (I'm 24). The only time I've had any kind of problem with it was when I got a bad tank of fuel. I freaked out and towed it to the dealer since I didn't know what it was at the time. If I would've known bad fuel I would've worked on it myself.

I get over 36mpg while going 80-85 on the interstate.

Have you had any transmission or brake problems? I've given SERIOUS thought to picking up an 05 but I'm concerned about the SBC system. However, I do think Mercedes extended the warranty to 10 years, unlimited miles. It's nice to see people posting here who've been on hiatus for awhile.

Servotronic brake system. Apparently discontinued after 06. Some discussion of it in the tech forum and other mb forums. http://www.mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w211/145960-w211-recalls.html

I think I'm going to look at an 05 in Springfield this weekend.
