W210 glow plug testing
Can someone remind me of the trick to test which of my glow plugs is tripping up the P0380 code and causing my check engine and glow plug light to come on? I think it's a continuity test with some relay, but I can't remember. I replaced all six plugs about 25k miles ago, and I'm pretty annoyed to see this light on the dash again this quickly. I guess I've got a weekend project coming up -- nothing is so much fun as pulling that intake manifold off...

go to DieselGiant.com and follow the test procedures for the W123. Your relay is subtly different. Testing principles are the same.

Thanks for the pointer, Terry -- you're always right there with an answer for me, and I appreciate it!
Cheers, John

John - very easy. Just unplug and test each of the six terminals at the glow plug relay using an ohm meter. Good plugs will read about 0.7 ohms. Keep in mind that the plug on the relay has the terminals numbered. You may need to look REAL closely, but the numbers are there. You might be able to change #1 plug with the manifold in place, but that's probably the only one.
