? What made you say that. I had no problems.

Bunk is right, no way did your friend have 124 brakes on a 123.

Gen II w126 larger rotors/calipers. Better stopping power, better cooling. Can't use 14" bundts. Here.
See here also. And here.

I managed to nab a set of Zimmerman cross drilled front rotors for my car at $46 each....my dad has had them on his W126 and they perform better than regular rotors (which he warped pretty quickly). I'm not putting them on our 300E though, as I do realize the benefit isn't really enough to be worth it. Standard ATE's are going on it. My wife drives slow anyways....

winmutt, you had no issues with 126 hubs on a 123? hmmmm, mine hit something and rubbed seriously, major overheating and baaaad smells... if you had no issues, I may revisit that and reattempt on my new 5speed car... heh.

I went the 126 vented rotor route on my '85 123. Fitment is no problem, the calipers bolt up perfectly and the rotors mount right onto the 123 hubs. Clearance is correct for everything too, so it really is a bolt on upgrade.

One thing I would recommend though is going with a reasonable grade of rotor. I went with the el cheapo-est chinese rotor and didn't even spring for the extra $5 "non-squeal" upgrade (the website I found them on listed the upgrade as a better grade of steel). I figured it was hogwash, I don't suppose rotor steel is anything special. I did go for good ATE pads. Anyway now I sometimes get a sort of crunchy, groany, grabby sound under very hard stops and lots of groaning and pig snort sounds if I let my foot off the brake pressure just enough to start rolling (but with brakes dragging) at a stop. Not positive this is all related to rotor material or quality, but it seems like some kind of friction surface mismatch problem between pad and rotor as best I can tell. On the plus side the brakes are strong and I don't notice any fade even after repeated hard stops.
