The clutch starts engaging between 90 to 95C. The temperature I am talking about is the clutch temperature, NOT the engine. I posted detailed test steps to test the clutch in the following link:

100C isn't out of spec, but I'd not be happy. My 300E goes up to 80C in traffic, but I've not yet replaced the bad visco clutch (sitting on the dining room table!).

The fan moves a LOT of air -- you should be able to hear the roar while driving, or a whine that sounds like a small jet. Fan speed locked up should be at least 1200 rpm, and that is a fairly aggressive blade configuration!
