86 300SDL fuel consumption

i am borrowing my grandpas 300SDL and im noticing the fuel gauge dropping at an alarming rate. i have borrowed this car many times before and it has never dropped this fast

i first started driving this car on Thursday when it had half a tank, so about 10 gallons. and now after only after 5 days of light driving its down to an 1/8 of a tank.

i also drove this car from San Carlos, California, up to Fallen Leaf lake, a good days hard drving and i only used a third of a tank.

what could be causing this.

i guess i should mention that its a little out of alignment. but whether thats relevant or not, i don't know

you shouldnt have to put a lot of go pedal into it to get it moving... either a fuel leak or the odometer is slipping

Vacuum line? Sounds like it might be shifting poorly and trans isn't shifting in sync with turbo. I would check all vacuum lines. Could be an easy fix. Jim
