87 300SDL Headlight problem

Bought an aftermarket set of headlights for my 87 300 sdl. The problem is that the new lights are 5 pin instead of the cars 4 pin. I hooked up the 4 pins, somehow stuck it in there, but the headlights are very weak, and the high beam does not work. Does anyone know if there are adapters, or know where to point me. I have been trying to find wiring diagrams for the lights. Anything suggestion will be helpful.

Sounds like you didn't wire them properly. There's a a how to in the Wiki section of this site.

The wiring is different for the 6-pin connector. I need to do the same as you. I just acquired the 6-pin connectors from and old harness. The 6-pin tail light connectors will work just fine.

I'll get the instructions and repost.

Moving 4-pin connector wires to 6-pin connector

Move #1 to #6
Move #2 to #2
Move #3 to #4
Move #4 to #5

Optional City lights:
Run a wire from #3 of 6-pin connector to #4 of the turn signal 4-pin connector.
