a four door coupe

Ive parked my 116 for the time being, no money/time for a new wheel bearing right now. I went out and found a sweet 1975 115 300D for 800 bucks! The back doors will not open, it seems definitely vacuum related because the door locks are spongy and resistant to being toggled. the front doors lock is not locking. where do i begin to trouble shoot these back doors? thanks

Disconnect the main vacuum for the door locks and see if they free up.

No money for wheel bearings, but 800 bucks for another car??

Yeah, I'm scratching my head over that one, too. Then again, that thing about "he who has the most toys upon death wins" makes no mention that the toys need to be operable. :D

The rear door lock pods on my '77 300D were similar when I picked up the car. Cleaning the gunk and corrosion off of the mechanisms in the door made a world of difference. You may as well start by popping the rear door panels off for an inspection.

Well, I'm missing the previously mentioned link! :D

And this is completely off topic, but it just bugs me to have been banned for no obvious reason. I've never even been issued a warning on any forum, ever. Out of no where, I get banned over there without reason after maybe two posts, none of which were controversial or forbidden in any way.

You're right, though. I'm obviously not missing anything. They're missing me, and that's their problem. Now you guys get me all to yourselves. Isn't that great? :D

I needed a workhorse, to get to work and back, and fast! the 300sd rear left wheel bearing started grinding and shrieking terribly! extremely loud!

I had the job quoted from a few shops cheapest was 320 + parts. Ive looked closely a the diy on the w123 rear bearings. I would rather fix this myself but perhaps without a stringent time limit (like the how am i getting to work tommorw question) hahhaha

its good to be prepared
and
this 115 is a beastly creature, for sure!

I have been in the position in the past where I had one car and had to finish repairs so I could get to work and I understand what you are saying, it's a pain in the ***.

Nothing wrong with a second car. Now that you have explained the reason behind buying a second one, I'd have probably done it, too. Heck, not counting my wife's daily driver, I have three!

be careful, a back up car can slowly turn into a signature like mine, or worse.

My IP is banned apparently. Why I do not know. I haven't actually bothered to try and proxy in and actually sign in to see if my account itself is banned, so maybe it isn't. I'll look in to it.
