126 shifter bushing (84 300SD)

I've had my 84 SD for about two years now.. It's always been a little "sloppy" in the shifter action, rarely taking more than once to "hit" drive..

While I was underneath, replacing the starter I noticed there was no bushing on the rod that connects the floor shifter to the tranny (sheesh, THIS should be an easy fix!!)..

This said, does anyone know what part to order, or is this an over the counter item I could get at any "supermarket" parts place?? (eg Autozone or whatever)..

Thanks!!

AJ RN

I doubt the local auto zoo's will have that. Click on the buy parts button at the top of the page.
I do not have that neat tool to install it, so I trimmed a bit off, popped on.
I found it easier to have the shifter all the way back, you'll note the tunnel.

Crap-- I'd have found those threads if I'd only searched W126 instead of 126..

Knockin' noggin..

Reading IS fundamental..

I belong to a motorcycle owners group (BMW) that has been around for about 10-- for a specific model bike.. It's frustrating when the new kids seem to think they're the first people to encounter something, then all but argue with you that this HAS been covered...

..Thanks for your help, and graciousness.
