Had a 79 wagon with 383k stuck on it ,seller told me it was well over 500k ,i sold it after a year or so of driving. It might have reached that kind of mileage by now. Most odometers go out after 200k ,who knows what some of these cars are performing too.The design is tough enough to get it to these numbers ,you dont see this kind of engineering anymore. Most people look at these cars as beaters ,especially when they have a few dings and the paint has faded to a well worn dullness.I ,on the other hand ,feel a respect for the car and give it maintinence to help it along to the next owner ,usually someone that knows about the MB diesel legend. Most cars ive bought and sold were parked and forgotten ,the people give me a story behind its being parked ,and I then make a decision on the honesty of the story.Usually $1000 or less ,sell em for $2000 or less.Interiors ,Ive found, are the most important to buyers .Clean ,well kept interiors.

Hey Guys,

I know there are a handful of the million-mile-ers out there, I just don't see them pop up on the local Craigslist that frequently.

Just for laughs I did the math on his commute and Pentagon to Jersey is +/-200mi each way, or 400mi/day 2000mi/week. That'll build up the miles fast...

I wonder if the guy has any maintenance records...

It would be the first $500 scammer I've seen...

Then again, he could be up to anything; the old craigslist-steal-and-scam is a well worn trick...

I had over 400k on one of my 220Ds before structural rust finally killed it.

The same car did appear on the CL in San Diego not too long ago. I suspect these are just phishing for email addresses...you respond to the ad and they know they have a valid email address for a scam or some spam later.

The one Mercedes had, the owner had installed an Engler Hubodometer when new, his goal was 1million miles before he retired.

There was a list next to the car of significant services, the engine was rebuilt once, at 9xx,xxx miles.

Mercedes had bought it back from him to show.
