Transmission cooling tubes
I have two tubes that go from the bottom of my radiator, and accrding to my diagrams they are the transmission cooling tubes..
Anyone know if this is just a simple replace or are there pressures involved, and are there gaskets involved? Oh, and i got the official mercedes shop manual on bitorent, god bless the internet. Mercedes really needs to rescan those pages from the book too some better quality images!!!! |

Which model Mercedes are we "fiddiling" with?
Oh,silly me.It's in your public profile. (1985 300SD)
[BC's admonitions apply] Usually, the lines come off easily if you spray the connecting Nut/Nipple junctions with "Kroil" (Or some lesser penetrating lubricant) the day before surgery. The big trick is to check and see if ANYTHING ELSE is held on/connected to the clamps that hold the lines[at least twice]. You will want to check and see what "Backup" wrench size you need for each nut connection...Without a second("Backup") wrench holding the nipple hex you're liable to tear the hex out of the Radiator/Transmission fitting. Unless you put the front of the automobile up on ramps and drain BOTH the Torque Converter and Transmission Pan...there will be a slight amount of seepage. Unless you try to change out the lines with the engine running (Big No No!) there will be no Pressure. No Gaskets, these are Compression Fittings
