It's not diesel...Look what I worked on and drove

I just got back from the owners house of this beautiful 1954 Mercedes 300b cabriolet. He has owned the car for 30 years and was finally able to recently pull it out and restore it. I was contacted by him from a referral to rebuild the two, progressive two barrel SOLEX carbs. The carbs took alot of time and patience to rebuild and repair them. I had to repair an air correction jet tower that had been broken years ago. NO SPARE CARB parts available other than rebuild kits! I am primarily diesels now but this took me back to my old VW and PORSCHE days. It took a time to install and set up but when we drove her, she PURRED! He let me take the wheel...4spd on the tree! Reminded me of my old '67 200D only the 3000b has some power!

I hope this thread doesn't get moved.

Those are lovely cars. I used to daydream of owning one but they are pretty expensive to repair or restore and what would I actually use one for?

Beautiful car....I'd love to just take one for a drive....but as was mentioned above....I don't think I'd want to own one.

I think I just wet myself!

&& for 4 door conv's... there are a lot of CTS, Deville & 300C custom ragtops... my dad looked at a CTS-V chop top, it still wasn't worth $55K && not something to trade an MB in on...

Absolutely fabulous car! Is the owner a member of MBCA? He should have a photo spread in "The Star"

I would love a Phaeton like that!

I love those old Mercedes, and its a 4 door convertable too!

I can't help everytime I see one of those cars thinking Guderian or Rommal should be in the back seat.
