Took a 0-60 video of my 300SD today....

I was out and about for a while today, so I whipped out the crappy cell phone camera and took a video of my car doing a 0-60. It seems to be about 14ish seconds....however, the test was slightly uphill, and I had junk in the trunk and back seat, 3/4 tank of fuel....and it was raining....so not optimal conditions. I bet I could get a 12.5 to 13 on level ground with all the junk out of my car on a dry day.The white thing behind the wood on my dash is a piece of paper....the wood backing is separated and vibrates (really annoyingly) so the paper stops the vibration. :o I'll glue it eventually....

I also have my bowden cable set to shift a bit earlier....

Enjoy the horrible resolution. :D

Now I just need to take one of our 300E....that'd make this look reeeal slow. :D

Nobody even viewed it? :o Sigh.

Your 1st to 2nd shift is way too early.

I have it adjusted that way on purpose....so my 0-60 probably isn't optimal.

If I really jam it to the floor (which I don't think I was) it will hold 1st to about 3500-4000.....

oldsinner111 03-10-2009 03:31 PM

Looks good. However I manually shift at 4500 when racing.

bgkast 03-10-2009 03:53 PM

Looks more like 15.5 seconds to me. ;)

Tighten that Bowden cable!

The gauntlet has been thrown, I'll run my SD today and get a video.

pawoSD 03-10-2009 04:17 PM

My time was probably far from optimal. Ideally I'd have a third arm so I could manually shift it all the way....hold 1st and 2nd real long, then use third the rest of the way.....I'll try again sometime with someone else operating the camera. :D

I think your transmission is slipping. I can't really tell, but thought I should ask the question just cuz.;)

LOL, sure. ;) Mine shifts so firm that it shoves the car forward when it shifts. :D You can see the sharp shifts by how the tach goes flying back when the shifts happen.

Have you checked your speedometer for accuracy?
Mine reads five over at all speeds.
Helps that 0-60 quite a bit.

Yes its accurate....I've checked it against those radar things, against other cars.....and I've gone 60 on the highway and time the distance between mile markers....exactly 1 minute. Its dead on.

No kidding. :D My dad's SD has a 160mph speedo....it just looks depressing! And the car maxes out just a bit past the peak! ...oh well.
