1984 300td wagon fender removal
Hello all! I want to remove my fenders to access hinger area so that I can clean out dirt, treat rust and reseal with POR15. Does anyone know how to pull fenders properly. It sounds like the later cars do not have the sticky sealer to contend with as there are fender liners in place but again, a procedure would be nice to have -anyone? Thanks!

I think Chad has done a write up in the body work section. I need to do the same thing, but I have the sticky undercoating to deal with in my '79. :(

OTOH who knows what's lurking underneath that we can't see.:( |
I think it amounts to (IIRC):
Remove the front bumper Remove the parking lights Remove the bottom chrome strip on fender Remove the plastic inner fender protector Remove all the visible bolts along the hood, under the chrome strip, behind the lights, under the lights , in front on the door (open the door to access) Pull out at the bottom and up Rick |

Courtesy Diesel Giant. I believe the cutoff date for the terrible undercoating fusing is 1981, so before that date, it's much, much more difficult. |
Thanks All!
All good information, thanks guys! looks the apron will still be in my way . . . . perhaps just pulling the hinge spring assembly will allow me to get in there and clean the hinge channel. Lots of crud and the drains are critical for drainage otherwise water would no doubt find its way inside the car . . . POR15 here I come -
