Help please - engine started good and I allowed it to smooth out for a minute or so before shifting to reverse and backing out of drive into street. Stopped and as I was shifting to drive the engine sputtered and died. Car was pushed to curb and I have tried to start may times. Starter spins ok and checked for fuel flow at injectors by bleeding. Several days earlier I replaced both fuel filters, filled secondary filter and opened injectors to flush out air. Drove vehicle aprox. 20 miles all ok. My first posting - Thanks in advance

More information requested:are you saying that Since the auto was "Pushed
to the Curb" [in a no start condition] you've checked the fuel at the Injectors
(nap nuts loosened) AND YOU ARE GETTING FUEL TO THE INJECTORS?

IF SO, IGNORE ALL THE BELOW ADVICE! (YOUR problem lies elsewhere)

Even though you've run it for 20 miles previously...
I'm inclined to think you haven't properly "Buttoned Up" the Secondary(Spin On)
Fuel Filter and air is being sucked in(Those Washers/O-Rings are a Pain!)
OR you've another source of air entry into the fuel system somewhere between
the Fuel Tank and the Injection Pump.

Classic test is to place clean diesel in a separate container (1Liter plastic bottle)
and run your Intake (Hose from Lift Pump to the hard metal line coming from the Tank,take the Tank end of the hose loose and stick in the Bottle below the fuel level) AND return (Other hose which goes to the other hard metal line going to the tank)take it loose at the metal line and stick in the bottle.

What you're doing is making a mini fuel tank to test the integrity of the Fuel Filter and the Lift Pump and Injection Pump.

Your other possible problems are:
1. Fuel Tank strainer in the bottom of the Tank is clogged with Fungus
Solution: Startron (do not be afraid to dump the whole bottle into your tank
It cannot hurt anything)
OR remove tank and clean
2.There is a vent hose underneath the Tank with a little bell shaped valve
on the end...If it's clogged it MIGHT allow a Vacuum to build in the Tank.
the test for this is to listen when you open the fuel fill cap...Does air
"Woosh" in...? then you have a Vacuum.
