By then, I was only going about 25, but there was no where left to go. I felt the impact and saw plastic fly up in the air. I pulled over to see how bad the damage was and a couple of guys stopped and moved the deer carcass into the median. It certainly could have been worse with only the headlight door, turn signal, lower valance, grill and LH fender damaged. I have all the parts to fix it back since I bought the parts car my tan right fender came off of. I guess in a month or so, I'll have a white wagon with a tan front clip It might be a good time to swap the rear hatch too, to get rid of the rusty original one. I'm sure glad the parts 300TD came up when it did, that'll be the best $100 I've spent in a while.
Sorry to hear that! At least you're ok and the damage isn't too bad. 5-6 years ago my father hit a deer that jumped in front of him at about 35 mph and it came to rest against the windshield. Got a deer tag and had some nice venison for a few months but did about $3500 worth of damage to my mother's van.

I have come REAL close to hitting three deer at once while going down the freeway at 75mph at night. I saw them running from a field towards the highway out of the corner of my eye....had I not swerved from the right hand lane across two other lanes of the freeway and into the left shoulder/gravel I'd have creamed at least 1-2 of them at 75mph. I have never swerved so far so fast. And the W126 handled it beautifully....no loss of control at all. You'd never believe a massive diesel sedan could be so nimble!

My uncle hit a deer going about 30 in is cavalier, it smashed out a headlight, slid up the hood and collapsed the windshield....then got up and ran away...leaving a hoof dent in his hood. Insurance repaired it all though....and the car has been on the road another 3.5 years/30k with no problem....

Be thankful you were in a MB when you hit that deer.....many people aren't so lucky.

Hopefully it didn't do damage to that front Euro bumper. That would probably not be on your parts car.
Luckily down here, Armadillo's don't really do much damage......

yellowrosefarm,

IF you'd been in WV, there would have been a half-dozen or more "Bubbas" fighting over the deer.
LOL.
glad you are OK. cars can be repaired.

No damage to the bumper as far as I can see. You're right, I don't have a spare for that!
