Wet 300td wagon -advice needed
I bought a nice euro wagon that had been allowed to get wet inside most likely from plugged sunroof drain and engine bay. I remove carpet to shampoo and dry and also pulled out the factory sound deadining pads which are soaked. Has anyone ever bought new replacements from mercedes? Some of their stuff is surprisingly cheap at times . . just wondering? I have removed all seats, man the previous owner was a pig . . .

The molded back mats are very very expensive. Clean them up and dry them out though and they may be fine.

I had a leak in one of my Passat TDI's years ago. Both of the "sound absorbers" in the floor got wet. I left them out in the sun for over 1 month and let them sit in the garage for another 2 months. They never dried out. Probably because it is so humid down here. I Could not believe the price of these things. The "sound absorbers" are VERY expensive. Your best bet is to find some from a salvage yard.
I actually made my own with some foil DynaMat and carpet pad from Ace Hardware. It worked as good as the factory absorber and raised the carpet back up to the height of all the rear A/C duct work.

I noticed that the sound deadner pads are open cell encased between plastic . . plastic cracks, water is absorbed and drying is then just about impossible . . . I will seek alternatives . . . probably black backpacking closed cell foam sleeping pads and cut templates from old pads - - messy!
