Low RPM on 1987 300D
Already switched out the OVP relay, the dial doesen't affect the rpm at all. RPM is at around 510 at idle.
Any other suggestions? Thanks

Check the wires and connector at the red plastic device on the aft end of the IP.

Excellent suggestion, removed the connector from the IP and a left wire
just popped out of it!! I was able to secure the wire to the to the connector and I now alot better RPM! I have the dial set on 6 but my rpm is actually about 540, it's alot better from 480 I was getting before but is there something else that might affect it?

Base idle might be off.

I had to bump my mechanical idle up a little bit. Not hard at all, I think the nut is a 6mm IIRC. The stock ELR setting is 4, which when set up with the mechanical idle should give you about 680 +/- rpms. (off the top of my head) Of course, you are free to choose whatever rpm you like. Mine was shuddering when cold because the ELR would shut off for a second when I let off the gas with a cold engine, and it would bog down to about 480-500. Increasing it a little bit fixed that problem.

blackcdi: you realize that dial only affects reported RPM not actual RPM right?

If it doesn't affect actual rpm it affects reported rpm and engine sound because the engine hums at a different frequency when you dial in a different setting.
