W123 B&E, engine compartment
 
W123, pull the cable, hood doesn't release. How to get in? Not talking hood pops up and you need a key to pull the little handle through the grille, but hood not released at all.

When my 123 hood release cable doesn't release, I roll down the drivers window, get out of the car, pull the hood release and use my fist to smack down on the hood and it pops free. Cable is probably gunked up or corroding
