IIRC, take an orbital sander with just the pad on, and apply pressure around the lock area. Supposed to vibrate it unlocked.

Well I couldn't get my trunk open for nothing and it was really starting to annoy me. I tried hammering it, the orbital sander trick, wd-40. nothing worked so I decide to find the vacuum line and see if I could pull a vacuum on it and open the trunk.
I took the back seat out and found 3 tubes. Inside the white tube was a pull wire. I pulled it while the wife hit the button and the trunk opened!

My respect for the MB engineers is renewed!

Question... which tube, green or blue opens the trunk?

I think the cable is only on models with the factory alarm. My car has the alarm and the cable. I had the problem about a month ago as well. The cause of the problem is a motorized actuator that sticks and blocks the button from the inside of the trunk. It keeps the button from being pushed in. Once you have the trunk open, remove the black cover over the lock mechanism. You should be able to see the actuator just inside the opening looking toward the driver's side. There is an electrical plug on it that you should unplug to keep the actuator from blocking the button again. It's probably malfunctioning and you don't want your trunk to get stuck again so keep it unplugged.

I don't have the factory alarm but I do have the cable,

I'll have to disable that actuator, thanks!
