IP/ Shut Off S/V Leaking What to Do ??

My 1999 E300D (200K) is very difficult starting & stalls at idle after driving. I have found the ( I believe) the shut down valve next to the IP is leaking at the rear.

The IP has residue, but no signs of leaks. The shut down valve does not look to have leaks on top, But I can feel and see a drip from the aft end.

I did remove the U shaped clips but did not know how to remove the two small hoses into the valve. I will ask, before I break.

I plan to replace the hoses while in here. Is there any serviceable O ring or gasket under the small hose connections?

I also plan to replace the O rings for the IP fuel lines. Should I replace the fuel lines? Is there a special wrench for the fuel lines at the head?

I do have the splined socket for the IP, but still unsure.....

I have been putting this off, building courage I guess. Need to correct.

Thanks in advance, I would have never been able to have two MB's running 188K & 210K miles without all of your considerable & considerate assistance.

I have attached a photo of the fuel leak location.

Pulled IM and going to Replace DV O rings

Quick Update.
Pulled IM, Removed Injector lines, Cleaned Pre-filter ( not much residue)

Need to procure and replace the DV O rings.
Replace the clear fuel hoses while in there.

Not sure as to how to determine if shut off valve was actual source of leak.

Absolutely not going to touch glowplugs, one is bad, another close behind. This a warm weather car, so until it does not start...

Will continue after getting parts. Parrot of Doom write up was of much assistance.

I don't have all your answers but I can add a little bit. Did you say you removed the U shaped clips? I hope not because they are not supposed to be removed. To take the fuel lines off you push the bottom part of the U in toward the fuel line. It is kind of counter intuitive but that's the way it works. Push the horseshoe (U) onto the line this spreads the clips and allows the lines to be removed. Once the line is off you will see the O ring that may be causing your leak. These leaks are common on these cars.

Regarding your SOV (shutoff valve), there is an O ring behind it which may be causing your leak also.

Hope this was of some help. You are not alone in having a fuel line leaking on your 606. Do a search and you'll find plenty about leaky 606's

Unhappy Counter Intuitive Should be my middle name...

Thanks ME's

I did pull (and break) one of the horseshoe clips, but will add to shopping list.

I will try that in a few.

Replaced flat washer/gasket at bottom of spring & O Rings for each DV. I will also get the O ring for the rear of the shut off valve.

Need to look up the torque on the DV's and complete this phase.

Thanks for the assistance.

Completed and Fully Operational Again

Pulled IM, replaced DV washers & O-rings. Replaced clear fuel lines while there, and O-ring between shut valve and IP body.

Reprimed, recharged battery, ran with out IM, good thing two DV still leaking under flare nut, Snugged, and no leakey.

Took out for drive and great starting, accelerating better, No leaks.

Very Satisified. & thanks all,

Gary
