1991 350SDL metal fuse

The fuse that is located on the rear of the front bulkhead is a metal fuse in a holder (driver's side). It has 2 phillips screws holding wires on each end. Does that fuse control the climate control blower fans? The fuse is broken in the middle. Any help is appreciated.

That 30-amp strip fuse protects the climate control blower motor. It's typical that an older strip fuse will develop a hairline, transverse crack. Buy a new one online or at your local MB dealer for around $2.

Yes, that's the fuse for the blower motor assembly. And yes it's around $2 from the Mercedes dealer but it's not a 30 amp, it's an 80 amp! It's more than a fuse, it's a power strip or something...just bought one prior to replacing the blower motor on my 1990.....

To the best of my understanding, the CLIMATE CONTROL runs on a 30-amp fuse. The metal strip in the holder at the firewall should be a 30. 80 will, I believe, let the thing smoke itself.

The similar 80 amp "strip fuse" is used in the glow plug relay, not the climate system.

90+ cars don't have a glow plug fuse ;)

Alright, that one was my mistake. I posted though, just to hopefully get clarification on the 30 vs 80 amp situation for the climate control. That's a significant different and I'd hate for them to get the wrong one.

My 30 amp information is from my 86 model.
