That trunk is locked!

On my 84 300 SD....

A previously good working trunk by both key and vacuum lock now wont open. Tried lubricating, no deal.

Worked great the day before. What are my options now?

try pushing real hard down on the trunk and try again. If the key and the vacuum do not work then it has to be in the tumbler. I thought the SD had a trunk release under the back seat??

It might if it has a factory alarm system. My 300D has one but it was hard to find it in the first place. It's a very small cable with a loop on the end. It was tucked in under the left edge of the carpet trim that goes up under the rear seat. You could have one and not even know it.

Does your car have the factory alarm? There are a couple of options...PM sent.

If not the emergency release is a 2-man operation. Pulling the emer. release and pressing on the button simultaneously.

My 380SE had factory alarm and there was no release. It wasn't hiding either since the car was 100% disassembled and then cut up. I would like to know if there is such a thing. It would be a nice addition.

Don't know about SD's, but have an 85D parts car with alarm system, and the trunk cable release is under the rear seat bottom cushion. As mentioned previously it is somewhat inconspicious and has the pull loop in that end. Have not tried it, as was never out by the car with an assistant, so can't say if it will work or not.

I don't think my 91 has a release cable.

I once got into a 300D 123 by pulling up the carpet and using a mityvac on the vacuum lock lines- grn stripe= open.

I dont think it'll work if the key was used to lock it, we were having vac lock issues, and locked the trunk while troubleshooting......

The emergency release cable is for a vacuum issue. It will not release the trunk if the alarm system has engaged the trunk lock.
