Question w210 rear window won't close

Something broke as I tried to close the back window on my 96 300d.
Took off the door panel and managed to push the window to within an inch of closing but it won't go any further.
There is a loose cable with a bent cover/clamp that has come loose from somewhere.
Don't really need it to work right now. We never use it But I need to get it closed.
Suggestions anyone ?

Your window regulator and/or motor broke. Fairly common on W210's.

Disconnect the plastic clip (that attaches the arm that raises the window) from the bottom of the window. Then you can raise it by hand and shim/wedge it closed. An old style wooden clothes pin works well.
