Irecently bought a 1987 sdl and love it So I changed my transmission fluid and filter easy no probles there! heres my delema the book says 6qt to fill I only put back 4 qts and the stick still shows over filled yes I took er for a 30 miles drive and ran it throuh all the gears what am I missing I did not drain the torque converter is that my problem? Help please

You apparently only took out 3quarts. I'm guessing you didn't drain the other half, which is the torque-converter (drain plug in the TC).

Drain it back down to full to avoid seal damage.

It is very difficult to fully drain the transmission. If you are worry then you can drain it again + the torque converter. But I think you would be fine.
