'Orrible job, and needs to be 'trued up' in lathe afterwards...
Leave that to alternator repairer,--Too much hassle...

Needed anyways sometimes regardless of the horrible. Or at least the old slip ring cleaned up on a lathe if scores in slip ring are not too deep. This is the reason why you eventually cannot get new brushes. The slip ring for all practical reasons has been worn far too deep.

Alternator failed today. I took it to a reman shop. It needed a new rotor which they didnt have. They ordered me a new (reman) alt. and $97 later im up and going again. They also gave me a replacement plug for the back. Lee said it may have cause some of my intermittent issues. Bottom Line... MBZ's cost...
