Dash light problem!!!! But dimmer works? w126

Hello I am having problems with my dash light they willl not work but the dimmer adjusts the other lights in switches etc. I cleaned all the contacts but havent tried replacing the lights. I do not believe the dash light circuit is getting juice. I found a wire that was cut it is red with a yellow stripe. could it be for the clock? Becasue I found the clocks prong didnt have anything going to it. I did use a scotch lock on one of the wires coming from the healdlight switch to finally hook up the light in my boost gauge could this cause it?

Thanks in advance,

~Ian

Have you checked the bulbs? The blackness of them often indicates bad bulbs. Your clipped wire is for the clock.

Gray/blue is the wire color that goes from the dimmer to dash lights on the schematic.

Should I risk hooking up the clock tot the cut wire? Would it cause any damages if infact there was a problem? Also Where can I get the bulbs I believe there is two of them?

Many thanks 81300sd,

~Ian

Should be able to get those bulbs at any parts store. I think they are no different than the US/jap built cars use. The wire was probably cut for a stereo power wire or something. Hook it up, the only thing it could hurt is your currently non-functioning clock or blow a fuse.

Most local auto parts stores will carry the bulbs. Caution: make sure they are 3 watt. Higher wattage bulbs will melt the surrounding plastic and cause you grief. The PO did this on my car and distorted the reflector.
