Did my 1st 0-60 run-1982 300SD 157K
Found a nice flat road. Did the run 3 times.
I did a 9sec a 10sec, and a 12sec. 9 seconds was last run. It was sort of fun. Trannie shifted at 3500 (1-2); 4500 (2-3) and I hit 60 in third gear but did not look at tach. Was busy watching road. From what I read this is about normal at 10 seconds give or take. Turbo sounded in good shape and engine pulled nicely. What do you guys think? |
I heard 12 was the norm. You must have modified your engine too.
|
It has a BB in the EGR line. That is all I know of. Is that considered modified?

People on this forum tend to exaggerate.;) Post a video.

I guess a little, maybe diesel in your area is better
|
What the heck mine is around the average isn't it?
What impressed me the most were the nice shift points. 3400 (1-2) and 4500 (2-3). I had not done it before so I just did it to see how it ran with a heavy foot. Do these cars like to be driven hard once in awhile? |
I noodled the Wifes seat a couple of weeks ago but I ruled this out.
|
Spec is more around 14-16 on the SDs, or so I thought.
How did you test? Did you use a stopwatch and GPS verify the speed? |
I used my watch but it gave me eroneous readings so I counted slow.
|
You mean you went one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand in your head?
Either you're counting is off or you have the fastest stock SD on the planet.:D |
I have a hard time believing 9sec. Very very very hard time.

No I studdered some. one-one thousand one, two-two thousand two, sort of like that.
|
Stopwatch and GPS speed verification will give accurate results. Unless your car is a magical fluke coming out of the factory, something is not being measured correctly.
|
9 Seconds  i got my fastest is 13 sec, And that's with proper tune up, our 300SDL time is 11 Seconds!!! Time to redo, this time have a buddy with a stopwatch.
