126 1986 300 SDL Antilock light on all the time.

My 300 SDL had 250,000 miles and the antilock light stays on when operating, dash clock has stopped working, tachometer is not working, and the center console light not working. I have been told that these items could possibly be related. Could this be related to the Over Load Protection Relay? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I did replace my old OPR with a used one. I was told that it was in good working order, but the problem has not gone away.

Thanks,

Ron

For the ABS light. Try cleaning the wheel sensors at each wheel. Sometimes they get dirty and it gives a false reading.

Is the ABS light and the Interlock light referencing the same things?

The two most common problems associated with your anti-lock light is the OVP and Wheel Sensors. The tach, clock could be grounding problems in your dash cluster.

With my 86 300sdl, my ABS light would come on when started, go off normally, and then when my vehicle would hit 15 mph it would go on again. I removed both front wheel sensors and cleaned them and it did not help.
I then started looking at the actual cables themselves and found that driver's side front cable had a broken wire in it where it clamps to the front spring housing. It literally crumbled in my fingers. I lucked out upon a used one on E-Bay for $25.00 and replaced it. All is well now.

These cables see a lot of road trash and water etc... in normal driving over 23 years. A new ABS cable is expensive. I hope your sensors are just dirty.

Good Luck

The abs and the tach are on the same circuit. It is a fuse that has blown. It is a 10 amp fuse. The fuse is located on a relay that is mounted behind the engine on the firewall. It has a red cap on top it. I am 100 percent sure that is the problem.

So even if the fuse doesn't look broken I should replace it? I have even changed out the fuse on the relay (Over Voltage Protection Relay)?

I replaced the relay with a used one but I will try the fuse......

Thanks

I changed the fuse and the light on the dash went out for about 15 minutes and then came back on....Any other ideas?
