Brake Line--->Brake Hose Spring Tab

I broke the metal tab that goes between the front brake hose and the brake hard line. I looks like it is designed to put outward pressure to keep the connection secure. Anyone know a source (not on fastlane) for this part or any other solutions.
Thanks

I know someone else has been forced to break one of these off....is the junk yard my only option. Is this part really necessary?

if you call or email Phil I bet he can get it, otherwise your local dealer may be able to help.

another option is the misc hardware section of your FLAPS.

What do you think about just using some lock-tite on the threads? Or would this be a big no-no?

I'd not use loctite...
I would think any parts house, or NAPA should have the clip, it's pretty common.

I went to an O'reilly's and an autozone yesterday and couldn't find them in the misc part ("help" products). Do you think that this would be the type of part that would be "behind the counter"....they don't list it on their online parts listings (for 300td)....maybe I should go to an independent parts store where the employees actually know a thing or two about auto repair...

I broke one on my car too a long time ago, and had to get one from the dealer. They are not expensive, and can be had in a couple days.

I bet phil could get one for you, just use fastlane on this site.

I think I'm going to order one from fastlane. But I need to use the car for a trip (2 hours each way) this Friday. Any improvised, short term fixes you guys can suggest.

Anything that would secure the hose to the bracket would be fine over the short term. Tie wraps, hose clamp, duct tape, fishing line....

yeah, the clip just keeps the solid line from touching anything as the suspension travels, and it keeps the fitting in it's bracket. get the lines tight, and strap it to the clip! no problems.

I was under the impression that the clip also provided outward force on the joint (hard line to rubber) and acted kinda like a lock washer to prevent the hardline from rattling loose.

LOL, apparently you have not dealt with many brake lines... I think rattling loose is the LEAST of your worries.

it definitely wasn't a problem with my previous set, I had to hack saw off the hardline and then rip the bracket apart becasue the hardline was fused to the hose.

Then what's the point of asking about a field expedient solution if you have already made up your mind that nothing short of the proper part will work?

I'm not set on the "proper part". I just want to make sure that whatever "field expedient" solution I use effectively carries out all the important functions of this part.
